Amanda, born and raised in Redondo Beach, began playing piano at age five and went on to study Film Composition & Scoring in college.
Amanda’s career began at 19 when they began working as a freelance composer and scored the short Skin, which was nominated for an Iris Prize, as well as “Best Original Score” in the Global Shorts competition.
In 2019-2020 Amanda co composed the experimental shows “Firefly Nights” and “Rio Records alongside collaborator Jonathan Sanford. Amanda has created original work for PACSUN, Kanye West’s GOOD Music label, Facebook, the HBO documentary On the Record, and Netflix CEO Reed Hastings’ corporate address. Amanda wrote and produced on Davia Spain’s debut album Dawning under their solo project moniker Masao, which was played on a loop for the virtual presentation of Yayoi Kusama: Infinity Mirrors at The Broad Museum.
Presently, Amanda resides in Los Angeles and is writing additional music for HBO Max’s Gossip Girl Reboot under multi–Grammy winning producer & composer Ariel Rechtshaid while anchoring Heavy Duty’s newly launched Original Score Division. Besides shattering the gender binary, Amanda is expanding the definitions and possibilities of “film music,” while using their craft to uplift underrepresented voices.
