Josh Wei is a Singaporean record producer and songwriter, now based in Los Angeles. Signed to UMPG Asia at 18, he is responsible for some of the biggest records to come out of Singapore and Korea including K-Pop superstars Stray Kids and CL, as well as acts like JJ Lin, Rachel Platten and Gentle Bones.
He worked with JYP’s Stray Kids on ‘Sunshine’. It is part of the ‘Cle: Levanter’ album, which hit #1 on the iTunes Album Charts in 18 countries worldwide. He worked on the soundtrack for Universal Pictures’ ‘The Turning’, which includes songs from Mitski, Kali Uchis and MUNA. He also co-produced the single ‘Soldiers’ for Rachel Platten.
Josh is the co-founder and managing director of Snakeweed Studios and Tumbleweed Studios, widely recognized as one of the foremost studios in Asia, the latter being in the Esplanade, Singapore’s national performing arts centre.
Josh holds a B.A from Berklee College of Music, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude. In 2024, he was placed on Tatler’s Gen.T List for his contributions to the arts in Asia.Currently, Josh works closely with Yves Rothman (Conan Grey, Amaarae, Yves Tumor, Freya Ridings) and Nick Lee (Lil’ Nas X’s ‘Industry Baby’, Ariana Grande’s ‘eternal sunshine’), and is mentored by Jeff Bhasker. His experiences in both the East and West provide Josh with a distinct and unique perspective on music as he crosses fluidly between cultures, languages and sounds.
